can’t wait to experience that manga book page flipping on the iBook

Don’t get me wrong, I think this technology is really cool and all. But I still like buying my manga books. There’s nothing can beat reading it physically. In a way, this can kill manga books in general and every reading material.
I understand that people like to do stuff like this already with regular computers and laptops. But if you take a real good look at how Manga business are doing. They’re not doing that great.
Plus, there’s hardly and interfaces that actually let you buy manga. I don’t want to be naive, but because of “Those” websites that house enough manga illegally there is no legal means to buy & download manga.
I know the economy is what’s affecting mangas now, but this Ipad is not helping one bit when no 1/3 of the nation can barely read or write.
Sorry for the rant…
It’s a cool device, but too soon I say.

Hiyugi, I think I agree with you 50%. As a manga fan, reading manga books digitally just doesn’t feel right, but Apple has created an intimate interface specially for ebooks that may be fun to try.
I agree that the illegal stuff are too prevalent that there’s little incentive for manga publishers to go for the ebook model, but Apple has changed the music industry through iTunes Store, so let’s give some hope in them changing the publishing industry through iBook Store.
I heard that anime content distribution has already started on iTunes Store, I would personally buy and watch on iPad if they have the titles I like

Hi all,
I think hiyugi has a good point. But having the ipad doesn’t kill manga books more than it currently is.
With the ebook store, it could be another way of distribution of books. Imagine the convenience of being able to carry ALL your manga books with you. That would be nice, isn’t it?
In Japan, sales of digital manga has seen tremendous growth. There are also apps that enhance manga reading experience. I wonder if digital manga would take off under this model.
I think it’s worth a try
If it just doesnt feel right, i’ll go back to buying manga books in physical stores.

Although it does sound awesome to carry all my manga books in that device. However, I’m not sure if you collect the books or not. I mean, yeah it’s great to buy and d/l a manga (or chapter), but I’m the kind of person that like to collect this kind of stuff and to know that in the next 10-15 years that some of my books will be worth alot of money like superman and x-men comic books. That’s the kinda fan I am.
The Ipad is definitely going to be a very useful thing for people & businesses for the future. I just hope businesses can follow that transition when the time is right. Thanks for your replies and I appreciate your responses.

Hi there,
I had a good look around and can see some great potential on this blog you have here. I would love an iPad myself and will have to dream about it until I get it!
Well let’s cut to the chase:
I am a manga and anime enthusiast myself and would love to start a magazine that hopefully can rival some of the bigger names out there on the market.
However, I am looking to start a focus group of people that enjoy manga and anime and need to gather a bit of research. Do you know if you or anyone would be interested in joining a focus group? Or even help with some answers to questions?
All I need is some answers to questions which I can send to you via email. Let me know if you are interested and I will send the questions to your email address within 24 hours.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

I think you are the first person that has been able to actually get me interested in the IPad. I am normally not a big fan of apple. Thanks a lot for the information.

First of all you won’t be able to watch anime in HD only if you download it or have an fast wireless internet connection on wi-fi att home cause you would require a 4g connection to watch streamed HD anime on a anime app.
Also the biggest manga app don’t have naruto, bleach, one piece, berserk or hitman reborn also they rly should improve the reading options. Download the marvel comic app and try the awesome reading system where the iPad jumps from each ” reading screen ” or what you should call it. To it jumps and zooms in automatically it’s pwns!

Hello, I’m Francesco and I made Mangapad a manga-reading web application that proxies (pulls) the images from onemanga.
http://mangapad.org
It works even on the desktop (yes you can use the arrow keys)
Please send me feedback about it!
Have fun reading!
